CM orders lifting SMS ban on post-paid

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday ordered lifting of ban on Short Message Service (SMS) services in the state on post-paid mobile phones, reports reaching here from Jammu said. However, the ban on SMS service on pre-paid will continue and bulk sms. Sources close to a Telecom operator in State told Kashmir Dispatch, that the service will be restored with few days after getting a go ahead from Department of Telecom (DoT). "Once a formal order from DoT, Telecom Regularity Authority of India (TRAI) and other authorities reach us, we will restore the service." Government imposed a ban on SMS in the Jammu and Kashmir in June this year after street protests broke in entire valley against the killing of a teenager in police action..
