Can’t allow ‘politics’ at Jamia: S.M Sahai
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Wednesday said it was “forced” to impose curbs on Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar's Old City, saying politics can't be allowed at religious places. “Worship places are meant for performing religious obligations, not politics. Some people can’t be allowed to hijack the Jamia Masjid. We impose restrictions on the movement of troublemakers, not the central mosque,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, S M Sahai said during a seminar ‘Youth, Media and Democracy’ at College of Education, Srinagar this afternoon.
