Yusmarg (Budgam) December 15: Famous tourist resort Yusmarg is being developed on modern lines to exploit its virgin scenic splendour for marketing in the World Tourism Market.
This was revealed after laying foundation stone of Alpine Hotel at Yusmarg by the Minister for Tourism, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora in presence of the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather and Minister of State for Tourism, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani.
The Hotel Complex is being constructed by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC), at a cost of about Rs. 4 crore, a 100 percent centrally sponsored scheme and shall have 20 guest rooms, one dining hall and centrally heating system.
The Minister also discussed ways and means for opening virgin trekking sites, adventure thrills and Alpine climbing on small peaks including Sun Set Peak, Tata-Kutti Peak and Bargah.
The Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Mr. Atul Duloo, District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Mr. Mohammad Rafi, Director Tourism, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Shah, Managing Director JKTDC, Mr. Satish Nehru, Chief Town Planner, Iftikhar Ahmed, General Manager JKTDC, Galib Mohi-ud-Din and Chief Executive Officer, Yusmarg Development Authority was also present on the occasion.
Mr. Jora instructed the concerned engineers and officers of Yusmarg Development Authority to relocate Buzgoo to protect the virginity of Yusmarg bowl. He asked them to encourage construction of Log Wood Huts and avoid use of cement concrete and other building material.
The Minister also directed Yusmarg Development Authority to construct a children’s park outside the main Yusmarg bowl.
Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather instructed the engineers to complete widening and macadamization of the road leading from Chari-Sharif to Yusmarg and Pakherpora to Yusmarg expeditiously, adding that it was vary important for promotion of tourism in the area. He said an amount of Rs. 20 crore has already been released for construction of upgradation of this 21 kms road patch. He also called for construction of eco-friendly infrastructure projects in Yusmarg.
Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani stressed for developing Yusmarg as an adventure tourism spot for which the place is naturally suitable. He asked the concerned engineers and officers not to deface natural beauty of Yusmarg in the garb of developmental activities.
