New Delhi: The Army Chief General V.K. Singh on Sunday said that the Army would make an enquiry 'on its own' into the killing of a youth in Kashmir, who was killed in by army last week.
"Army is ordering its enquiry 'on its own', although we are quite sure that to what has happened. But never the less to clarify any doubts that may come up, we are doing our own enquiry," Singh said.
A army spokesperson claimed that Manzoor Ahmad Magray was killed in Gund Chogal village around 10.30 p.m. on Friday when he passed through the road on which the Army had laid an ambush for militants. However, Magray's family claimed his 24-year-old son was taken away by the army personnel during the night and later killed near a river.
He was killed on the spot when troopers of the 4 Parachute Regiment opened fire. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the tragic incident. Police have registered a case of murder against the Army unit.
