The Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda has stressed for spreading the Gandhian message of peace, harmony and brotherhood. He said that Gandhain philosophy has assumed more importance in the present times for eradicating hatred and non-tolerance. Mr. Khoda was interacting with the members of Gandhi Global Foundation at Police Headquarters here this morning. He said that it is the need of hour to work together for promotion of peace which is imperative for overall development. He asked the group members of Global Foundation to act as ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir and apprise the people of the country about the real situation, they experienced during their visit of various parts of the State. He also said that people of the State are peace loving and want to live in a peaceful atmosphere. He said that some vested interests are always trying to disrupt the situation but with the cooperation of the people their ill designs have been foiled time and again. The Foundation had started the peace march from Kanyakumari on 17th October this year and will culminate on 30th January 2011 at Kanyakumari. The Group, after travelling a distance of more than 11,000 kms., will go across 18 States of the country. The Foundation presented National flag to the DGP which they carried during their travel from Kanyakumari. They also presented him Gandhian Seva Medal and a memento. Earlier, State President of the Gandhian Global Foundation, Mr. S. P. Varma said that Peace Foundation had entered Jammu and Kashmir State on 7th December 2010 and after travelling through various districts of the State they reached Jammu on 19th December, 2010. He said that while travelling through these districts they spread the peace message of Gandhian thoughts among the people
of the State. He thanked the Jammu and Kashmir Police for their full support during their travel in the State. Later, the Group was flagged off by the DGP and other senior police officers from the Police Headquarters.
