DECEMBER 30- Due to foggy weather conditions/heavy rains in the Northern Region during the night of 29 & 30 December 2010, there was tripping in the 400 KV Chemera-I & Chemera-II transmission line at 00.17 hours, resulting in tripping of 400 KV Kishenpur Chemera-II, 400 KV Kishenpur-Moga, 400 KV Kishenpur Dulhasti, 400 KV Hissar-Moga, 400 KV Agra Unnab and 220 KV Amritsar-Verpal I & II.
Due to over voltage and to avoid trippings, 37 other line of the northern regions had to be opened. Nearly half of Northern India got plunged into darkness. Few of the lines could be restored at 7.00 a.m. Subsequently due to rains in plains/snowfall in upper regions, there is throw off of load in J&K State.
By afternoon on 30 December, 2010, nearly half of the load of J&K State could be restored. It is further added that weather conditions are hampering the restoration process, however efforts are on to restore the remaining power system by today evening.
